Welcome to the Learn Serology website.

The LearnSerology website (http://LearnSerology.ca) is an educational resource for individuals seeking an introduction to immunohematology and the foundations of blood bank compatibility testing.  While designed specifically for the educational needs of Canadian post-graduate medical trainees completing their speciality training in clinical hematology, it may be of value to anyone with an interest in transfusion medicine.  LearnSerology consists of six didactic modules and a series of interactive antibody investigation panels where users can practice the method of “rule-outs” to confirm the identity of an antibody.

LearnSerology was developed by Dr. Matthew Yan and Dr. Valerie Arsenault under the supervision of Dr. Jacob Pendergrast (Laboratory Medicine Program of the University Health Network, and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto). Web design and software development was carried out by the Perioperative Interactive Education (PIE) team in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the University Health Network, managed by Dr. Gordon Tait.

This project received funding support from the Canadian Blood Services BloodTechNet Award Program, funded by the federal government (Health Canada) and the provincial and territorial ministries of health. The views herein do not necessarily reflect the views of Canadian Blood Services or the federal, provincial, or territorial governments of Canada.
