Case description
  • A 62 year old man was referred for management of the finding of a tumour in the head and neck of the pancreas.
  • The tumour occluded the portal vein, leading to development of collateral branches in and around the pancreas head.
  • The tumour also enveloped the celiac trunk, the left gastric artery, the splenic artery, the common hepatic artery and the gastro-duodenal artery.
  • A total pancreatectomy with splenectomy was proposed, with reconstruction of the celiac trunk and the SMV.
