TVASurg VR Surgical Anatomy Module

Exploring case-specific surgical anatomy in virtual reality

Module description

The TVASurg VR Surgical Anatomy module is designed specifically to explore case-specific surgical anatomy in a virtual reality setting. Two cases from our atlas (a caval resection case, and an SPK transplant case) were selected. The 3D anatomy models, CT/MRI scans and selected video excerpts were imported into the module, allowing users to explore content using either their hands (using the Leap Motion Controller), or the HTC Vive controller.

Special acknowledgements

Special thanks to the Leap Motion team for releasing their SDK, as well as thestonefox for developing the VRTK Toolkit - without these generous developers, the learning curve in VR development would have been much more steep to climb.
