Introduction

In 2014, a group of pharmacists in the pharmacy department of the University Health Network attended a demonstration of VIC. Inspired by the potential of VIC to assist pharmacy learners at all levels of the pharmacy curriculum, they modified the VIC template to simulate the assessment of patients in a hospital pharmacy environment.

About Pharmacy VIC cases

The VIC pharmacy cases mimic a pharmacist work up and include a patient chart which requires focused information gathering, a medication history, identification of the patient's drug therapy problems (DTPs) and care plan item selection. As with all VIC cases, immediate feedback is given to the student at the end of the case. Please refer to the Pharmacy Cases page for a listing of the cases.

The VIC team has been fortunate to have been the recipient of various grants and awards which have facilitated the creation of cases and published research studies. In addition, we have been fortunate to work with a great team of people to make this happen.
